About
Hi! I’m Jen
I started my journey into the dog industry by going to A+ Pet Grooming Academy. I quickly learned that as a dog groomer, I am very much a dog trainer as well. I wanted to further my knowledge in dog training, so I found a training internship and a couple mentors to learn from, where I also developed a love for teaching group classes. Since then, I’ve furthered my education over the years by routinely attending seminars, both in person and online, keeping my Pet First Aid/CPR Certification updated with a yearly class, and obtaining my CPDT-KA and Fear-Free Certifications.
I’ve always known I would open a business where I could do both grooming and training. Over the years, I’ve joked to my husband, Rick (owner/bather/training assistant), that we’re going to have all the dogs! So naturally, when it came time to figure out a business name, the choice was easy. Our logo is actually the outline of our five dogs: Lucille, Blaze, Roxy, Duke and Negan.
Roxy is my sport dog, a border collie/australian shepherd mix, we’ve been doing agility for about three years now and are actively competing in trials. It is by far my favorite dog sport. I can’t wait until our training facility is built to be able to share our passion for agility with those old and new to the sport and have a place to practice. Roxy also excels in scent work sports, specifically Happy Ratter and Barn Hunt, where she has won and placed at several trials and recently earned her first Title. Blaze is the dog you’re most likely to see down at the shop or around town, he’s our lab/shepherd mix. While we’ve dabbled in scent work and rally over the years with him, he doesn’t have the same drive for sports as Roxy and prefers to just have earned his CGC Title (Canine Good Citizen) and be a companion. Negan and Lucille are our mastiffs, and we recently tried our hand in the dog show world with Negan at a beginner show. Lucille has been competing in the sport of FastCAT and will be earning her BCAT Title soon. Duke is our hound mix and prefers to be in the woods or anything that involves food. Bella, in the back of the picture, was our Small Munsterlander, who excelled in retrieving. Sadly, she is no longer with us.
